Frequently asked questionsZENEC E>GO device cannot be run / turned on when ignition of vehicle is off. Answer: E>GO units are connected to the CAN network of the vehicle they are mounted to and require CAN data for certain functions to operate correctly. CAN data is only present in the vehicle, when ignition status is on – for this reason operation of the unit is not possible when ignition of the car (ACC) has been set to its off position. Based on this technical background, the unit will not discharge the battery of the vehicle when the driver forgets to switch off the E>GO device before he leaves the car, and the DME of the vehicle will not periodically check if there is a non identified device still active in the on-board electrical system, but instead the E>GO device and the vehicles in-car electronics enter “sleep mode” together.
Answer: Please consider that ZENEC deploys digital map data of the market leader TELE Atlas. With full EU content and routing and signalization of streets being modified on a daily bases, it can easily happen that certain parts of digitalized map data are wrong or not fully up to date. Please contact the support section of TELEATLAS directly, using the provided link – because such issues should ideally be reported by the end user that has stumbled over it (first hand info): http://mapinsight.teleatlas.com/mapfeedback/index.php
Answer: The vehicle must be equipped with the "OE radio prearrangement" from the factory, to allow straightforward installation of the ZE-NC3810. The physical appearance of the OE installed radio must be identical with the ZE-NC3810, else installation is not possible. Please refer to the compatibility list.
Answer: Please make sure that the brown connector on the backside of the ZE-NC3810 is properly inserted. This wire lead transmits the CAN data from the interface to the ZE-NC3810. Integration to the driver information display is not provided, but the steering wheel remote control functions – when present in the car – work exactly as found on the OE radio.
Is the Convers+ supported? Answer: No, the Convers+ is not supported.
Answer: Yes, the parking sensors continue to work as before.
Answer: Yes, the OE mounted GPS antennas are flawlessly working with the ZE-NC3810 (Fakra connector). The included E>GO GPS kit antenna, however, is very well adapted to the E>GO and will, most likely, do an even better job. Is the ex works hands-free device compatible? Answer: No. But the ZE-NC2040 sports an integrated high-quality hands-free device from marketleader PARROT. In case your phone has Bluetooth ability, the E>GO ZE-NC2040 offers a comprehensive hands-free device function. Once you have paired your mobile with the E>GO, you can handle your calls completely via its touchscreen. Built-In ex works hands-free devices should be completely shut down, by removing the respective fuse (the one in the fuse box). If you omit that, you will probably encounter distortions during parallel operation.
My iPhone gets charged, but i cannot replay any file from it. Answer: Make sure you have the latest software/firmware, on all participating devices, installed. Obsolete or improper software/firmware may cause severe problems. Use the original ZENEC iPod/ iPhone connection cable for full functionality. If the problem persists disconnect your Apple device and reset it before reconnecting. Consult your Apple manual for further details.
After updating my iPhone/iPod it does not properly connect anymore. How do i solve that? Answer: Disconnect your iPhone before you switch your E>GO on. Switch off your iPhone/iPod completely by holding HOME and POWER Key pressed for at least 5 Seconds, until the red "Power off" bar appears. Touch it to shut down. Now connect your iPhone/iPod to the E>GO. It should automatically power on. If it does not, switch it on manually. Keep the power key pressed for at least two seconds. Your iPhone/iPod connection has been newly initialised. That should remedy your connection problems.
What phone number is dialled, with the ZE-NC3810 in voice tag dial mode? Answer: The ZE-NC3810 will dial the cell phone number that was imported from the cell phone. Please pay attention, that the cell phone number must have been saved in the category "mobile number" in the phone book of your cell phone.
The security code of my E>GO does not work as expected. Answer: Make sure not to mix it up with the parental lock code. Please consult the manual for further details.
Answer: A reboot of the ZENEC naviceiver at or right after the engine start points to an under voltage problem of your vehicle. The restart/reboot process is caused by an internal protection mechanism (micro controller watchdog) of the E>GO unit against under voltage conditions in the vehicle, that would cause consequential malfunctions of the E>GO’s sat nav or radio section. Root cause for this behavior is the vehicles electrical on-board system itself or parts of it, not being able to hold the in-car voltage above 9V at start of engine. Please contact your car service center for further assistance, to let them check the battery, alternator or main wire harness.
Can't change time settings of the originally equipped board computer anymore. Answer: Before you remove the original head unit, make sure the original radio is set to „automatic“ instead of „manual“ in the time settings menu. If it is still set to „automatic“ you will not be able to set the time of the board computer anymore, as it is relying on the transmission of time data through the original radio. The ZE-NC3810 does not support that function. Depending on vehicle configuration it might not be possible to change from „automatic“ to „manual“ after radio swapping. You will most likely be forced to reinstall the original radio, for the sole purpose of setting the time, if you omit this step. The USB connector is on the back of the device. It can be rerouted to the dash board or glove compartment by using the included Media Link Box. The USB data carrier should be FAT32 formatted. It should not need more than 400mA, if no external power is present. We recommend 6.35cm (2.5 inch) or preferably 4.6cm (1.8 inch) hard discs. The smaller hard discs need less power and are mechanically more durable.
Which SD-Cards are supported? SD/SDHC cards up to 8GB, FAT32 formatted. Anything else may or may not work.
Content on USB / SD data carrier is not recognized even after successful formatting?
In such cases, you must format the data carrier once more to get it to work as intended. Windows Vista and Win7 offer two options, i.e. you can apply a quick format or a full format of carrier. For all cases related to data carriers that seem to cause problems, it is highly suggested to do a full format process. Make sure the check mark for quick format is not set. Also pay attention that the FAT32 file system is selected before you start the format process. Info: If the disc after formatting is still not recognized by the device, it may be due to an incompatibility of the disk controller chip itself. In such a case, you should use a different data carrier of another brand or manufacturer.
How do i check the software version? Tap into the upper left corner to invoke the main menu. Now choose "Setup" (icon with sprocket). Now scroll all the way down and tap "Version".
Why can i not use Winzip / Winrar to unpack the update? Answer: Because data integrity can only be guaranteed when using 7-Zip to unpack. www.7-zip.org
How do I install the updates? Answer: That depends on device and version. We publish device- and version-specific instructions together with the update. Do not install the update, before you have entirely read the instructions.
The installation instructions say that i have to use a USB flash drive to update. May i use a CD instead? No, you have to follow the given instructions closely. Otherwise your update will probably fail and you surely risk to harm your device.
I have been recommended to update the CAN-Bus Adapter. Do I need to de-install it to do so? Answer: No, not necessary. ZENEC has integrated a CAN-Bus updater into its software interface, allowing you to update the CAN-Bus adapter in-circuit using a USB flash drive. Follow the accompanying instructions closely, to avoid any damage.
My problem still persists even after the CAN-Bus update Answer: You have to reset the entire board computer completely to set the changes into effect. In order to do so, disconnect the car battery for a few minutes. Afterwards the CAN-Bus adapter changes will be recognized. |
