 New conceptIn 2011 Zenec are launching a completely new generation of digital media stations: modern mechless models that entirely omit mechanical CD/DVD drives and focus on media playback via USB stick, SD card or iPod/iPhone. Last year mechless multimedia naviceivers were still a rarity, but the trend towards them has now become established: the CD and DVD are out – USB, SD and above all the iPod/iPhone are the future. Experts even predict a development similar to the replacement of the cassette tuner by the CD player. With the ZE-MC296, Zenec is now bringing out its first loaderless 2-DIN moniceiver. This is a real multitasking unit, perfectly equipped for playing digital media with its two USB ports (front and rear) and an SD card reader. MP3 and WMA through to the widespread Xvid video format for AVI files. Zenec's innovative full feature unit is always at home with current music and video formats; it also supports the display of Album Cover Art in the audio playback menu. High definition panelLike the whole new Zenec multimedia generation, the ZE-MC296 is equipped with a first-class digital HD LCD TFT panel with 800 x 480 pixel resolution (WVGA), which makes for perfect image detail at a high brightness level. In particular, the display of the high resolution 3D GUI elements is really snappy. The display has LED background lighting for a better color gamut and stronger colors; another plus is the constant picture brightness of the LEDs, even after years of use. The user in the centerA lot of work has been invested in the further development of the user interface. In particular, the operating logic has been completely re-engineered and modernized – the control of the ZE-MC296 will therefore pose no puzzles, even for non-tech affine users. All menus, including system settings, are largely self-explanatory and therefore intuitive to use. User friendly ZENEC GUIThe GUIs (Graphic User Interfaces) of the Zenec moniceivers and naviceivers in 2011 come up with two fundamental innovations. For better visualization, many of the icons are 3D and animated. A brief tap is all it takes to send the menus 'flying' across the screen – a feature that makes operating the unit not only vivid but also fun. In addition, the wallpaper can also be selected from a collection of available motifs. The second major innovation is the implementation of the slide touch function. Menus can be slid about the display by moving or stroking with a finger. Using the Browse function, you can comfortably surf between the menus. Choice of mediaThe ZE-MC296 has two separate USB ports (front and rear) and an SD/SDHC card reader for directly playing music, movies, multimedia files, podcasts and photos. The card slot is conveniently located on the front of the unit and can take SD or SDHC cards with up to 32 GB of memory capacity. Using an interface cable, available separately, you can easily connect an iPod/ iPhone to the ZE-MC296 via one of the USB ports and control it from the touchscreen. Both front and rear USB ports will switch into iPod/iPhone control mode when an Apple device is connected to either of these ports. Relaxed communicationThe excellent Bluetooth system of the ZE-MC296 originates from hands-free system specialists Parrot and provides convenient hands-free communication. Beside the convenience of imported phonebook contacts, the smart search function (using up to 15 letters) of the new Parrot Bluetooth solution makes finding an entry a lot easier. ZE-MC296 accessoriesZENEC All-In-One - this does not mean only full compatibility to all popular audio and video formats, but also easy integration of further ZENEC devices like DVB-T tuner, rear view cameras, headphones or monitors for perfect rear zone entertainment.
