What conditions must be met to install the ZE-NC3131D?

Answer: The physical shape of the OE radio or navigation must be identical with the ZE-NC3131D. The ZE-NC3131D is equipped with a phase diversity tuner. That means that both antennas inputs of the device must be supplied with the appropriate FM signal. Since AUDI has deployed various antenna system over the years, depending on the OE factory installed radio or navigation device, we would like to list the OE radio / navigation devices “found in the wild” and the assigned antenna systems:

1.

Audi OE device: Radio Generation 2 + (Chorus II+, Concert II+, Symphony II+) [Sometimes erratically called „Generation 3“]

Antenna system of vehicle: Phase Diversity

Compatibility of E>GO device: The ZE-NC3131D can be mounted without any changes or modifications to the vehicle

2.

Audi OE device: Radio Generation 2 (Chorus II, Concert II, Symphony II)

Antenna system of vehicle: Switching Diversity

Compatibility of E>GO device: The antenna system must be retrofitted to become Phase Diversity capable, since there is one lead that carries FM signal, the second lead is used to transmit the intermediate frequency controlling the antenna switchbox.

3.

Audi OE device: OE Navigation RNS-E

Antenna system of vehicle: Switching Diversity

Compatibility of E>GO device: The antenna system must be retrofitted to become Phase Diversity capable, since there is one lead that carries FM signal, the second lead is used to transmit the intermediate frequency controlling the antenna switchbox.

Kits to retrofit vehicles that feature Switching Diversity antenna system can be purchased from authorized ZENEC dealers.

As an alternative to vehicle retrofit with a phase-diversity antenna system, the ZENEC ZE-NC-ANT3 antenna adapter offer the option to adapt the single antenna system of the car to the double antenna antenna input of the device. This compromise option provides an FM reception performance improvement, but can not reach phase-diversity antenna system performance.
